Benefits of Buying and Installing Tiles

Wall and floor tiles are made of ceramic and have a very low rate of water absorption. There are many variations of these tiles and they can be either glazed or unglazed. Before buying tiles to put on your wall or floor, there are certain factors that you have to consider. There are many tiles in the market today that are not of good quality, which require changing every few years. In order to ensure that you are buying good tiles, drop some red cordial or some coke on the tile and leave it there for about 5 minutes. If the juice wipes off easily, then it is good quality. If it leaves a stain, it is of poor quality and will therefore be cheaper. Ultimately, the more money you spend on the tiles, the better the quality.

Versatility

Porcelain tiles are more versatile than wood or any other flooring material. They can be used either indoors or outdoors, in any room of the house and come in many different styles and textures. Because of their many colors, they can be incorporated into any design or theme in the house and they ultimately brighten the room. In addition to that, they can be cut into any shape to fit into any room of the house. They can be designed to look like wood, granite, marble or limestone.

Weather Resistance and Durability

Tiles can endure extreme cold, water, heat and any other weather condition. Unlike wood, tiles do not shrivel during the cold season, do not expand during the hot season and they do not rot due to wetness. This makes them ideal for use all year round and in any part of the house including outdoor gazebos and the garage or basement. Because of their high density, porcelain is very durable. If you invest in good quality tiles, they will not need to be changed for over thirty years because they are very resistant to chipping, cracking or scratching. In addition, they will not fade with time or exposure to the sun.

Maintenance

Because of their low water absorption rate, tiles are very easy to clean and maintain. They do not require polishing or any form of periodical repair. Unlike most other flooring, tiles will not retain the smell of the cleaning detergent used, they do not stain and they do not require any special cleaning agents. Because they dry right away when properly sealed, water does not sip in and therefore there are no chances of mildew.
