What's The Real Story About Wrinkle Creams

By: Geoff Hopkins

Women worry about aging. While maturity brings knowledge, experience and hopefully some stability and peace of mind - it also fades the beauty of youth. Faces that once turned every head in the house become just another older lady who hopes to look good for her age. But now there are new options.

Most women would agree that being beautiful is worth a lot to them. The prevalence of artificial perfection we see every day on TV and Ads every constantly reinforces that feeling. Many of those beautiful people in ads are selling a wide variety of anti aging products.

The beauty we seek is tied inextricably with perfect skin whose lack of flaws screams health, vitality and personal attraction. This perfect skin deteriorates with age. In fact, aging means wrinkles in the minds of many women. Why does this happen? There are a variety of reasons.

What anti aging or wrinkle prevention/reduction products are best? With an endless number of choices on the market and a huge amount of advertising pushing these products to us every day - it's tough to know where to start.

To know what works best, you must first understand what is actually happening with your skin. What causes these changes? Elastin and Collagen are proteins that our bodies produce less of as we age. This reduction is one of the direct causes of wrinkles.

There are also things we can control that make our skin wrinkle more quickly. Not only does the loss of these key proteins matter, but time spent in the sun (where ultraviolet rays, UVA and UVB are detrimental) and lots of stress will make our skin age faster.

As with anything that goes on or in our body - it will need to be specifically chosen for you. Any face cream must work with your dry, oily or combination skin as well as your personal skin texture. You certainly don't want to cause rashes or pimples so test new products gradually and carefully. The best anti wrinkle cream will work to gradually reduce fine wrinkles and tone your skin.

What is the bottom line here? There is no one perfect wrinkle cream. The answer will be different for everyone. A certified dermatologist can be very helpful in narrowing your options and evaluating your needs. Personal research and gradual trial and error also work. Herbal and alternative creams found in health food stores are yet another option. The key is to understand your skin, your health, your lifestyle and to gradually test product samples until you find the perfect anti aging product for you.
