Self-Confidence Through Self Hypnosis and NLP

By: Alan B. Densky, CH

Self-Confidence is an emotional and psychological mindset which responds to somebody's need for self-acceptance and recognition. It is one among the oldest and most studied ideas in psychology. It is used to describe a positive albeit realistic perception somebody has of himself or herself and of his or her abilities. Hence, self-confident individuals frequently have a better knowledge of the things they are able to achieve and are more apt to succeed in what they attempt. They will also more readily accept and learn from their failures.

By contrast, a lack of confidence can deter you from believing your actions or decisions will after all work out the way you had planned. It can thus inhibit the improvement of executive aptitudes, strategic and management capacities all of which are essential and indispensable skills in the business world of today. The pre-occupation with other people's judgment of your work may also cause you to become excessively self-critical, which is something that will distract you from assignments you would otherwise be fully capable of performing.

Low self confidence will also affect your social life, because people with a low level of self confidence are more likely to remain in their "comfort zone" and are afraid of rejection. This is called social phobia and is commonly associated with low self confidence, but also other psychological afflictions like depression. People with low self confidence fear being judged by others and will avoid meeting new people, which can result in isolation and even less self confidence. Low self confidence is a vicious circle that is hard to break.

To the contrary, because they believe in their own aptitudes, self-confident individuals are able to do what they feel is appropriate and do not expect the approval of others. They are also able to inspire confidence: your customers, employees, boss, relatives or friends are more likely to trust you or the things you are telling them if you look self-confident.

Numerous experiences can cause low self confidence. New research proves that education has an important impact on the development of a child's self confidence. Bodily and psychological abuses in childhood are for instance the most damaging to a person's self confidence, as well as divorce and family conflicts. Overprotective parents can also be a reason for a child's social phobia and deter the independence necessary to develop self confidence. Failures and successes, for instance at school or in one's professional life, also play an important role: losing a job or failing a class are some of the numerous experiences that will have a negative impact your self confidence.

It is however possible to overcome these bad experiences and gain self confidence. The first step to develop self confidence is to learn to know who you are and what your strengths are. Admitting the fact that you are allowed not to be perfect and cannot be good in everything you do will help you gain self confidence. Accepting yourself as you are is the key to gaining self confidence. But in order to improve your self confidence you also have to start taking risks and giving yourself credit for your achievements. This is very simple advice that will help you build self confidence. You might also find a great number of books that will tell you how to gain self confidence, but not all of them are reliable.

A great number of people suffer from low self confidence or are only able to gain self confidence in one or a certain number of areas of their lives because they always look for other people's approval and are scared that they could fail. Numerous factors, including childhood traumas, can explain why some people are not able to enjoy the wholesome life of a self confident individual. Such people also do not always know how to gain self confidence. However improving self confidence can now readily and effectively be done with NLP and hypnosis.

As we have seen before social phobia and low self confidence can stem from traumas or unconscious fears which are sometimes hard to overcome with self persuasion only. Confidence hypnosis and NLP by contrast are able to get to the unconscious part of our brain and alter belief systems to boost self confidence. They are powerful tools that will help you address your fears and trust yourself to develop self confidence.

Self-Hypnosis for building self confidence has been used for numerous years and has shown significant results in building self confidence. In a hypnotic state, reaching unconscious thoughts is a lot easier and, thanks to hypnotic suggestion, it is possible to replace your negative thought patterns with positive ones to build your confidence.
