While the title question may be a bit confusing to some, I am quite certain that there are people reading this who understand the statement completely. Nothing is completely free of charge any more. In fact, those things that advertise their prices as free quite often make up for that and so much more in the end. Ultimately, when it comes to home and business security you will have to decide for yourself if the overall cost is worth the thrown in freebies. My neighbor has a wireless security system he installed himself. He said it only took minutes to install and is very impressed with his purchase. The one he owns has motion detectors, glass break sensors and external sirens with alarm and flashing light. He put up decals in his windows and doors that were in with the package. Most competent security systems will provide peace of mind that is well worth the eventual price. This one was a good choice for him. In any event, read the small print before you decide to buy from a company, especially if the price says free. Most home and business monitoring companies will allow the equipment to remain as long as they are providing the services or you have met and completed the length of time of the service agreement. Again, read any contracts in order to find out the specifics of the product you are considering. If concerned, you can purchase a stand-alone system as my neighbor did. His does not call the police automatically. But, if this is something you desire, you can get the Smart Scan Auto Dialer like I have. If it detects an intruder, it automatically calls my cell phone, my neighbor and the police. I love the fact that I don’t have to pay for an additional phone line and it is simple to install. I personally love the peace of mind that comes with the auto dial feature. If you are still considering going with a home monitoring service versus a stand-alone system, keep some additional things in mind. If you see features you like with another company but the price is more, see if you can get this as a bonus. Make this request before you sign anything. Some have a standard agreement. However, most home security providers offer service plans, and these plans can be altered in order to meet the needs of the client. If not, certainly go with a different company. While I would like to claim that all in the business of home security are scrupulous, this is not always the case. Many agents of these companies are out simply to get your signature and grab a commission. The larger the sale, the more money these agents bring home. However, commissions paid to these agents are mostly determined by the monthly service or monitoring fee packages chosen by the consumer. For this reason, it is important to compare these fees when deciding if you are going with a company or getting your own stand-alone system. Consider fees and what they include when comparing prices as well as the length of any service agreement, and any applicable early termination fees. Don’t get into a lengthy contract with a company in which you are not satisfied. It can be frustrating and costly. Hopefully, the tips I have giving will aid you in making the best security decisions for your home and business.
